Alpha Release!
As we are cotinuing production this week we have finally reached an alpha build!
With this we have finally decided on a proper name for our game and that is: Deadlocked
Deadlock is a computer science term defined as :
"A failure or inability to proceed due to two programs or devices both requiring a response from the other before completing an operation." We chose this as it refrences our goal of the players being constantly chasing eachother trying to stop another, and it works with our new aesthetic computer hacking theme.
For the alpha version we have added a proper menu so the game is playable from start to finish! We have also added settings and new levels to play around with with some new mechanics (most notably the player specific blocks through which only the designated player may move through) So with the current alpha build we are (almost) feature complete!
However the most notable thing we have done this week is a formal playtest and more specifically its results. Surprisingly the game has scored really high from our playtests and people even came back to play it again which was really exciting for us! But the main thing we have learned which many people have said was: That the slowdown the chaser gets when they remove color feels too punishing to the chaser, and another very important thing was that we have realized the rounds we have set up for the game are wayy too long for the game of this scale, levels got a little stale after having played them for so many rounds in a row.
